When you think about the Netherlands your first thoughts will go to tulips, clogs and of course: Windmills. If there is one place that you need to go to visit the traditional windmills of the Netherlands, it’s the town of Kinderdijk. This town is the home of a unesco world heritage site where 19 traditional windmills are displayed for the public. It’s an absolute must visit if you are going to the Netherlands.

If you want to explore the Tulip Fields in the Netherlands, you have to rent a bike in order to get the full experience and see the area. There are many fields which are difficult, if not impossible to reach by car. Hence why renting a bike could be a great solution to this. In this post you will find a 35KM long bike ride across the Tulip Fields near Lisse and Noordwijkerhout in the province of South Holland.

During the months of April and May, the region of South Holland, and many other areas in The Netherlands turn into one colorful field of flowers. Many people will think of Tulips when they think of the Netherlands, and whilst most flower fields are indeed Tulips, there are also some other flowers blooming during this time of year. If you are looking for a fun weekend break or sunny sunday activity, visiting the tulips is a great option.

If you are looking at fun day trips when you are visiting the Netherlands or Belgium, you might want to look at visiting Eindhoven. This city is located in North-Brabant and is known as the design capital of the Netherlands. It has a lot of quirky buildings, amazing food (lots of vegan options too!!) and so much more to offer. The city is not that large and is the perfect spot for a day trip. It is easily accessible coming from larger cities such as Antwerp, Rotterdam or Amsterdam.

Maastricht is a beautiful town all the way down south in the Netherlands. It is a great town to go shopping, eat some delicious food and go on little adventures. Although it is not one of the biggest towns in the Netherlands, there is still so much to do and see. If you are looking at visiting Maastricht, I recommend you spend 1 weekend, or 48 hours in the city before exploring another town.

One of Western Europe’s most interesting countries is the Netherlands. Amsterdam is one of the easiest accessible cities if you are flying in from outside of the EU. Because of its popular tourism, it is easy to travel to and generally very safe to visit Amsterdam (and the Netherlands in general).  If you have never visited Amsterdam, I would recommend at least 48 hours to explore the city.
